I love pampering myself! Really enjoy buying those delicious fruitty mask in strawberry flavours for my weekly treat. The sweet smell of the mask lift my spirits up almost immediately..and at the same time, makes my skin soft and dewy..Then, it'll be my regular foot soaks in warm water, before applying a thick slab of purple lavender cream on my feet.. Not to forget the luxurious almond body scrub and manicure sessions. I'll be going for my first facial tomorrow too..at this nice, cosy and relaxing spa..im definitely looking forward to it! Not so much on beauty reasons, but more on being pampered throughout the whole one and a half hour..heavenly!
Apart from all these body-treats, i pamper myself to good food too! Every weekend, laogong and i will decide on having italian, chinese, western or japanese food. At times, we'll go to the carlton hotel or crystal jade for lunch too..yummy! We'll always end off the weekend with a nice glass of beer or vodka around the fullerton area, or a nice cuppa warm coffee and rich cakes at some cafe..Thus, the bulk of laogong's money is spent on good food over the weekend..(which im always guilty about..) This justifies why eating instant noodles during weekdays is a wise choice!

I'll always start my week with some new purchases at home too..be it a new top, bag, cosmetics item, or even a pair of earrings or a bottle of nail polish. Nowadays, im contemplating with the idea of buying a brand new aromatherapy set, getting this sweet smelling shower jelly from marks & spencers, a hair dye, going for a couple-spa with laogong..etc..etc..
Seems like pampering myself has an effect on burning a hole on both laogong and my pocket..
But, since i get such a huge kick out of pampering myself mad like Cleopatra, all the money that has been spent are well-spent! Well-spent!

I was thinking, since i like food so much, i might as well start a food blog! But i decided against it..coz this blog of mine is still like a baby to me..and i definitely dun want to divert my attention away from it..so here it goes:
Talking about my all-time fave food (for the past 21 years), itz none other than instant noodles!
Be it those that needs to be cooked, or those that come in a cup or bowl version, anything goes! And it doesn't matter if it's the soupy or the dry version, and i'll eat any flavours that it comes in...on one condition: NO other ingredients should be added to it. No vegs, no meat, no crabsticks, no eggs!
To me, instant noodle is one of the best food invention ever! Its divine..and i'll always savour every single strand of noodles, and every drop of soup..i can feel my adrenaline rushing whenever i tear open the sachets of dry ingredients, soup base, chilli powder, onion oil.....heavenly!
And i don't care if its MSG or fat-laden, unhealthy or sinful. I can eat it daily, for every meal. A perfect scenario would be: a packet of chicken-abalone noodle for breakfast, supreme curry cup-noodles for lunch, tom yum bowl noodles for dinner..and ramen char mee for supper!
Obviously, my parents got to know about my instant noodle-obsession, and since dunno-when, it has kind of become a "banned-food" at home. Mum will ask me in an unbelievable tone (almost shaking in her voice) if im comtemplating with the idea of eating that divine food again for my next meal..when a 5-packet noodles come into her sight..
And thus, ive learnt to be smarter! I'll drop by 7-11 everyday after school to grab that wicked bowl of noodles, leaving no evidence behind..
There was this time when my project meeting ended quite late, and everyone promptly headed to the school foodcourt for lunch, except me..
Hungry as i was, i told my groupmates that i'll eat cup noodles at home. One of them was like "Dun torture yourself la!" I felt tickled upon hearing that..."Far from it! It's enjoyment!"i told myself..If only there's a stall selling maggie mee-goreng in school...
I'll willingly spend $4.50 to buy those kimchi-ramen set in some foodcourts too, well knowing that its actualli instant noodles..yes, auntie, you can fool me in the name of instant noodles...
If you recall my earlier entry, i said im finally taking care of my health..ha!
There, i've told you already, i can fool myself in the name of instant noodles..n i mean it...

From time to time, i'll come across guys asking questions like "Why do girls put on makeup?" or passing comments like "Natural is beauty..i prefer girls without makeup.." As of now, i still can't come up with the right word to describe this group of people..
To me, the reason why girls put on makeup might be the same logic as why u guys choose to iron your shirts before wearing them, or why u might wana gel or dye your hair..the reason is this: Coz you want to look better/more presentable! It doesn't hurt to make a pale face look healthier/more radiant with a quick swirl of pink blush, cover an angry looking zit or two with clever application of concealer, brighten a pair of droopy eyes with careful application of eyeliner, or make chapped lips more kissable with some lip balm and a dab of pretty gloss.. Some history lesson now: Cosmetics have been around for decades. Egyption queens make their eyes look more attractive by using kolh pencils to line them..If cosmetics do not enhance the beauty of women, or do not help to cover their flaws, big cosmetic houses like Chanel, Dior, Estee Lauder etc. wouldnt be around anymore..
Perharps i should say that i agree to a certain extent of what u guys say about natural is beauty..If a girl can face you naturally without hiding her real personality, and if she doesn't act like who she isn't infront of you, that is what i'll call beauty. Definitely not girls who face the world with her bare face, when she can put a little more effort to make the world see a better looking face of hers.
Perharps guys who made the above comments might have been "terrorised" by girls who put on too much makeup, or girls who ended up looking worse with makeup..If this is so, it's just a matter of these girls grapsing the right techniques and skill, that's all! Don't penalise them due to their lack of techniques or skills, instead, see them from a different point of view..Their intention is to look better, cover up their flaws, or simply, to boost their confidence and make themselves feel better..What's wrong with that? Due to this, it shows that they care. Infact, i feel that they deserve more respect than their sisterly counterparts who chose to face the world with their bare faces, even during days where they literally look like zombies after a bad night of sleep..
Thus, guys, if your dream girl is one who do not fancy putting on even abit of make-up, you better go find this poor girl a social ettiquette instructor! If not, she will go running off to meet her future boss or prospective client with her bare face! (Which is almost vulgar in the corporate world, even if she is wearing her best suit!) However, forget my suggestion if she aspires to work in a factory or as a hawker.

Like what you see here? Congrats! Do buy your g.f. / dream girl a pretty lip gloss to start with!
Don't like what you see here? You need someone of a higher calibre to enlighten you further in the subject of cosmetics..However, (don't leave yet! I'm not done with you!) one last piece of advice! Don't, and i mean DON"T allow your bride to go bare face on your wedding day! ( Yes, i know she looks fantastic like that!) but she'll be a laughing stock amongst the congregation of close friends and relatives! And she'll hate you for not telling her about this particular entry of mine..after being forced out of the corporate world by her boss, and ended up being laughed at on her big day..This poor girl who doesn't believe in the power of cosmetics might just end up being your personal home maker..
Enough said!
Till then,
Wise'n Up!

I'm sometimes being referred to as the "small girl" by laogong..guess it must be due to all my imaginery friends, named after cakes and desserts..(e.g. strawberry-shortcake, custard pudding, frutti-tartlets etc). Then, it must be due to my little tricks on him almost everyday.. (I'll stick post-it notes on his specs if he were to wear them to sleep, so he'll wake up seeing those notes instead..) He always commented that my hair smells like bubblegum too..(which i insists its grape milk)..coz of these, he treats me like a small girl sometimes, which is why i call him "daddie" at times too..

Daddie gave mi nice colour pencils and a pretty colouring book. I'm supposed to show him my book everytime i finished a page..and i'll be so happy when he praises me..

Then there was this time when he went to a few book stores like borders, kino etc.. to get me the strawberry shortcake story books..so he can read them to me. He also buys me a strawberry-shortcake soft eraser that smells like strawberry milk to me, (but my friends insist that it smells like strawberry, coz they can't smell the milk..silly silly..)

How great! Not only i get myself a laogong, best friend, advisor, teacher and companion, ive got myself a "fairy" that turned me into a young girl again..how nice..how sweet..the magic of love..

I have always been interested in tea tasting..especially flower tea, where i can see the rose petals floating in my teacup. Nothing beats sipping a warm cup of flower tea during rainy nights..igniting my cosy room with soft orange lights, dropping a few drops of essential oil on my pillow, and relaxing under my warm comforter with a good book while listening to the love songs on class 95...
Was at this little cosy tea hut off bugis junction last sunday with my significant half, when i learnt more about tea from the friendly lady owner.. He ordered a pot of peppermint tea, while i chose rose tea..that's when she told me that, to sweeten peppermint tea, we got to add sugar. For rose tea, it would be honey..for others, it would be rock sugar..(funny) Arent they all sweeteners?

That brought me back to last year, when my laogong surprised me with a tranparent tea set, completed with strainers, teacups, stirrers, and a box of tea leaves..(touched. damn touched) Apparently, he bought them from the Esplanade, which i supposed would be very expensive.. i was thinking, how could he take this small hobby of mine so seriously? He made me feel better by telling me that he bought the set so that i can make tea for him everyday.. :)

Am always interested in the complicated tea ceremony that apprentice geishas have to learn.. guess what? one of my "dream" is to become a geisha one day..(to the horror and anger of my laogong!) But u must understand that this is due to the rich culture that geishas possess, as well as their poise, elaborated make-up and beautiful silk kimonos..well i guess i can dream on..no okiya would accept a 21 year OLD girl as their apprentice..
Since i can't sing those japanese songs or recite those long poems, i might as well practise on my o-cha making skills so as to be one step nearer to my "dream" of becoming more similar to a beautiful & mysterious geisha!
Some favourites:
  • Good old lemon tea
  • Caramel tea
  • Berries tea
  • Honey tea
  • Pink Rose Tea

Just came back from boat quay..signs..i only drank one tall glass of beer..wats wrong with me? retribution ba..drinking is supposed to be one of my favourite past time with laogong..still remembered how we used to "challenge" drinking, and play games so that the loser has to finish the whole glass of beer..its also supposed to be my "medicine" when im feeling so fucked up or depressed bout something..but now, itz gone..no one forbid me from beer or alcohol..no one, but myself..
Its scary when i thought of some days, where, after drinking, i woke up of sleep from an extreme pain in my kidneys..eeew..its terrible..in the middle of the night..and no remedy for it, except to wait for the pain to dissappear....guess its due to my strong drinking all these years..still remember how i had bottles of vodka in my school locker so i can take some sips in between breaks..
Now, i set a limit for myself..to only have a maximum of one tall glass...however,due to this, i felt a sense of joy in me..a joy that i can only derive from myself...that is, im sensible! so damn sensible..and im finally taking care of myself..to limit my intake of cigs n alcohol.. sad but true, i can't seemed to breathe properly now after smoking too much..haiz, guz im really murdering myself all these years..poor poor body of mine..

I'm happily attached to a wonderful guy for two years, 10 months, 23 days and counting...
Well, we got to know each other during a boring econs lecture two years ago. He was sitting next to me then, and i wasnt very happy about it..coz that seat was supposed to be reserved for a chatty friend to entertain me throughout the 2 hours ordeal! But bo bian wat....was cursing him while taking out my one and only precious chewing gum to chew on when he asked," Dun wana share with me huh?" (HOW DARE HIM)
But bo bian again, i wanna act nice mah..there goes half the gum..however, its due to this very same gum that we started talking..n talking n talking.. we discovered our common liking for supra, the amazing car, ice cold vodka as well as the "desperateness" of being trapped in school.. One thing led to another, and we decided to meet at the school canteen after school to go 4 a drink!
"How is this possible?" i asked him.."We're in sch uniform u noe?" This infamous ah beng in sch assured me that itz not a problem at all..
And so..at 5.15pm on 23rd May 2003, we went on our first "outing"..a rather impromptu and unusual outing..to a clementi coffee shop for ice cold tiger beer. The "guai student" in sch and the "chao ah beng" going out together..(as frens only k!)
So there he was, smoking and drinking while talking to me about cars, frens, life etc.. Our first date. Our unusual, funny first date.. Met for less than a day, but talked like long lost frenz..
Hate pink? Dun worry..stay on and you might just love pink at the end of your visit..
Friends who know me might find it strange, coz im always wearing black. Due to this, i have names like "ah lian" (tot lians like colourful outfits??) and remarks like me looking "cold".. (due to the contrast of my fair skin) etc.. but in actual fact, black is versatile, sleek, stylish, and classic.. (bleams) Alright, i shall not bore u with my thoughts on colours..
In this blog, i'll bring you back to my past, link u to my present life, and give you a glimps of what i hope my future life would be.. keep coming back if u don't find it bored..
