Over dinner today, Feng and I were fooling around and singing the song 'Wonderful Tonight' from Eric Clapton...

We changed the lyrics of the song, and had a fun time laughing..

Then he told me of another song of Eric Clapton. Rather, the story behind it.

Tears in heaven.

Feng told me Clapton wrote the song in memory of his dead son.

I didn't know about it.

I searched the net, and within seconds, I came across an article, and knew what he said was true.

My heart sank. The song is really in memory of his son, Conor Clapton, who fell to his death from his 53rd storey NYC apartment. I couldn't stop crying while reading the article.

Some reports state that his young son had a habit of running to the window to greet his father upon his arrival home everyday, and 1 day the window happen to be open, and he fell to his death.

The death of his son left a deep impact on Eric Clapton. For 9 months, the grieving father try to come to terms with the loss of his son, rather on performing.

Another song Eric Clapton wrote about his son is "The circus left town", which recalls the last time Clapton saw his son alive, as they attended a circus together the night before his son's death.

What seemed like a happy event today, might be the very thing that'll break your heart in future, when things have changed, when that person's no longer around. I knew exactly this feeling. When, at times, I think of my grandparents in heaven, its always those happy moments that makes me hurt so much...

However, these things are inevitable. It's just part and parcel of life.
We just have to come to terms with it, no matter how hard it is.

For now, I'll get a different feeling when I listen to the song again.

I bet Feng's regretted telling me the story behind the song.

Ok,
I admit.
I'm spoiled by Feng.
He bought me a Burberry Wallet and a Guess Watch in 1 week..
The wallet's Nova Cheque..
a new edition..
I was at at Kimage the other day
and this girl commented on my wallet!
Another guy friend also commented that it looks nice...
hehe...
It could only mean one thing..
both guys and ladies think its not bad...
This watch is a surprise from Feng..
I just have a thing for Guess..
Last month, I went into Guess, and can't take my eyes off this gem..
Even after we left the shop, my heart's still on the watch...
I wasn't even paying attention to what Feng's saying....
as my soul's left in the shop!!
He got it for me a few days later...
Hehehe...
Its damn bling bling lo...
And I seriously luv it!!
Yang mentioned the watch's "steady"...
haha
It's abit oversized for my wrist,
but I really really love it!!
I'm a spoiled woman.
Feng's a spoiled man.
We spoil ourselves silly.
Thankzz Hun!!
Hey...
Are you someone like me,
who can't get to sleep that easily at night...?
Lez' u're dead tired..?

I always have a book on standby on my bed..
in case I have insomnia that night....
If I do, I'll switch on my orange lamp and read..

When I read,
it need not be continuous...
I'll just flip to a page randomly and read from there...

One of those books that I always read is
Geisha of Gion
by Mineko Iwasaki..
She is cited as one of the best geisha of this century..
In this non-fiction novel, she describes her life from a young girl,
to an apprentice,
to a maiko,
right down to her settling down finally with her husband in Kyoto,
where she lives now...
Included are some pictures of her too...

The details of a life as a geisha is described in such an intricate way,
it's almost like watching a movie,
not just reading a novel..Next book,
Memoirs Of a Geisha
This, a non-fiction book written by Arthur Golden..
This book created a big hoo-ha among the Geisha community,
as Mineko Iwasaki is "blamed" for revealing the life of a geisha
to an outsider, which is a big no-no...
Apart from reading, a warm cup of japanese green tea helps..
Feng's Mum gave me this bottle of Green Tea,
bought from Tokyo..

It has this very distinctive, musky taste to it,
not everybody can get used to...

However, I luved it soo much I get
withdrawal syndroms after I finish it....

Now where can I get another bottle of this..?
With green tea powder till the very last sip...

Finally, maybe a few drops of essential oil to help drift off to sleep..?
I heard lavender helps...?
But I'm not a great fan of it..
I'd rather stick with my trustworthy vanilla or almond...

In the middle of the night,
I guess, is the best time to read a good book..
to reminisce the happenings of the day....
and to look forward to another tomorrow....
When it comes to Thai food,
Thai Express always pops up in mind!
Well, they serve real decent food,
at a fraction of the price!
Till Feng brought me to another place...Its his friend who
'strongly recommended'
this place..
Guess we'll have a try!
Their tom yum soup is yummy yummy yummy!
Doesnt it look super appetising?!
The prawns, squids, sliced fish..etc are all so fresh and tender!
Feng suggest I asked for a straw to finish it up..
Crab fried rice..
The crab meat can be seen!
They are not sliced up thinly!
However, its abit bland, but, real fragrant!
Every grain is evenly coated with eggs!
But the combination of cherry tomatoes with
long stalks of veggies is abit uncommon..
Next up is grilled pork with their special sauce..
The pork is grilled so well it tastes abit like 'bah kwa'..
Its a must try, and we'd definitely order this dish again!
The home-made sauce is so authentic,
with shallots, baby onions, lemongrass and the likes in it...
The service is good,
with warm, friendly smiles of the Thai waitresses..
Its quite packed with tourists and foreigners after 6pm...
so, do go there early!

It costs about $20 + per head..
It's totally worth it, and a great alternative to the
highly commercialised Thai Express...
Its recommended by major newspapers too!

The location: 20, Sixth Avenue
