It's a Sunday night routine for mi and Feng
to go for a cuppa coffee or tea.
To talk about the coming week,
or the previous week,
or nothing in particular..
We walked past NYDC,
and I couldn't help but wanna go in for....

Yes, Boo Boo Cake!!!

Usually, I'll only have it on my Birthdays..

But I sort of break the routine...

Coz I had such great withdrawals syndromes.
Now, Feng is throwing me disapproving looks..

It won't be special anymore if I have it any time I like!

He gave in, and so I had one lil slice!

Yummie! I promise they need not wash my plate after me!

I grab the menu and decide on our drinks without telling Feng what I intend to order..

Like that then got surprise mah..

I pointed it out on the menu to the friendly server,

and hope she doesnt repeat our orders..

Here it comes!

Some Irish creme liquor drink that's coffee-based,

sprinkled with cocoa powder..

and fudge sauce at the bottom..

I gazed down, and saw so many stores selling Chinese New Year goodies..

Seeing it make me happy already!

Going to Chinatown to 'squeeze' with people during CNY is one of my

"die die must-do" thing during the festival!

And thus, the night ends with a slice of my official birthday cake,

a surprise drink for Feng,

a long talk with him,

and noisy bargaining that comes out of the goodies store downstairs!

Simple things in life that makes me happie!

He finally did what he promised!
One of my fave chinese dish has got to be Peking Duck..
However, we've never really go in search of it specially.
Though we always include it in our 'to-do' list.
Until this day,
where I had a strong craving for it..
Thus we went to Ah Yat Seafood
For some Peking duck!

One of the server skinned the crispy layer off the duck,
while the other swiftly sandwiched the thin, crispy skin of the duck

between the 'popiah skin'

together with sweet sauce, scallion and cucumbers.

In a jiffy, I had my cravings satisfied!
It's a wonder how three simple ingredients and a sauce can
produce such great flavours!

Another dish worth mentioning is the XO tofu claypot.

It comes with one whole pot of XO sauce,
served with spring onions, leeks and salted fish..
A dish that will keep you satiated with just a plain bowl of rice.

The duck meat is then fried with black pepper sauce,
as preferred by us..

A dish has got to be peppery, if not spicy!

It's more tantalising, isn't it?

We've got to order extra plain rice to go along !

Feng says he will go back soon for the live seafood..

I don't have the luck, since I'm allergic to large amount of seafood!

I'll have to fall back on the duck then..

I have a mission!
I'll have to plan our V-day dinner!
I was thinking that we often eat at 'waterfront areas',
like one fullerton, cosybay etc..
Thus, I've decided to book this restaurant at the Botanical Gardens! I feel kinda excited doing the plannings,
and haven't been this excited since planning Feng's surprise birthday at
The siloso beach resort last year!

I love to do the planning,

to make sure everything's going well,

every detail is taken care of,

to spring little surprises on him...

We've not been to the Botanical Gardens at all!

Here's the waiting lounge..

Where we'll have a couple of cocktails if we want..

We were ushered to our seats soon after!

We've gotten a window seat by a corner..

The view from my seat..
I loved the atmosphere!
The tranquility of the surroundings..
like a little island of its own!

Alright, not much pics on the food coz we were busy eating!
I opt for the buffet..

It includes:

Prawn Tower, Sushi snd maki, Tuna Tataki n Sashimis,

Mesclun salas,Feta cheese and olives, seafood mango salad,

Momotaro Carpaccio, smoked salmon,cocktail mozzeralla,

Mixed Mushrooms, Prosciutto Ham & Cantoloupe,

Chilean Seabass braised with sake & Wakame,

Vanilla spring chicken with honey, seafood stew,

Braised lamb shank, softshell crab with lime leaf & oatmeal,

Roasted Striploin of Beef with Bearnaise & red wine,

Potato au gratin, and pastas of all sorts!

Let us say the ambience worth 5 stars,
food also 5 stars,
service 6 stars!

I've done my research, and this is voted as many ppl's fave

restaurant in Singapore!

I can understand why..

The servers look just like top stewardesses serving passengers on board!

We ate and ate and ate..
laughing at dunno-what..
Either something about the food being real exotic,
or some beautiful scent kinda thing..
enjoying our own private jokes!
It wasn't long when I felt the chandelier of the restaurant getting more orangy than ever,
the scenary outside turns a pitch black,
only lighted by some lamps and perharps the moon light..
We knew it was time for desserts!
We went to the cosy "dessert room" and realise
that we're the 1st persons for desserts!
Everything is laid out perfectly!
All cakes are whole, all little desserts untouched!
They kinda glow in the chandelier's light!

Desserts include:
Chocolate duet with espresso, Passionfruit mango square,

Banana Walnut cheese cake, Coconut panna Cotta with exotic Coulis,

Strawberry Tiramisu, Assorted Choux Pastries,

Valrhona chocolate tarts on slabs of Valrhona chocolates,

and warm red fruit clafoutis..

See the strawberries in a heart shape?

Feng took the strawberry in the center for mi!

It's the center of d heart!

We had so much fun taking the desserts,

it was crazy!

We burst out laughing, looking at the face of the chef when she entered

the dessert room after we're done!

The crystal sweet ornament..

I would have taken a bite if no one's looking!

Hehe

And its time to go!

Or we will both burst outa our clothes!

But not before having some coffee and tea!

The view from my seat at night.
It exudes a different atmosphere from the bright daylight earlier on..

We'll come back next sunday for breakfast,

or high tea in the afternoon!

It's freezing cold, and the kind stewardess offers to shift us to a outside seat

so we can continue our dinner.

'Dinner?'

We've eaten our share of lunch, dinner and supper already!!!

It's time to go get my Val Day Prezzie!!

And we went to Orchard..
Was thinking of getting some acessories from either Tiffany's or Cartier or Bylgari..
When Feng says

that every girl's gotta receive something from Tiffany's from a love one..

And thus, I received my 1st Tiffany's on V-Day..
The familiar turquoise colour..

I chose a padlock.
Have been eyeing it since months ago..
and was telling myself to go get it when I receive my paycheque..
Thanks hun!
I'll always wear it close to my heart!
Happy Valentines'!

I still owe you your X'mas prezzie+new year prezzie+V-day prezzie and anni-prezzie!

It's a fine and windy day!
Almost too fine for the piping hot weather of Singapore..
Once again, we are back at the oasis.
They have at least 2 decades long of history backing them up!
Perharps the first restaurant 'floating' on water.. We're here today for lunch!
A big pot of Taiwan sweet potato porridge,
and numerous dishes on the menu to go along with..

This nostalgic place would be relocated in March..

When I was still a little girl, my parents used to bring me here..

and I'll always kneel on the couch and peered out at the blue waters..

To think that it would soon be history...

The last time Feng and I came was with my parents a few months ago.
Late late at night, for supper.

The view was breath-taking!

Eating warm porridge on a breezy, starry night!

Suddenly, it occured to me that the nearby CosyBay
might have to give way to the new developments too!

I certainly hope not!

Look at the queue outside!

It goes on and on and on....

This is probably one of the few places that still retains the old-style cooking methods..

Yes, the food's kinda oily.

The raw cockles very bloody,

the meat's not exactly that leany..

But it's sure hell yummie!

Hack the healthy eaters!

The food arrived!
We help ourselves to our free-flow pot of porridge.

We had good'o oyster omelette.

Imagine biting into a crispy, not lumpy, omelette,

with generous serving of half cooked oysters!

Pork stomach with brown sauce.

The very smooth meat with thick brown sauce.

The sauce's almost like a secret recipe taken out of granny's personal recipe book!

You can never find another prawn paste chicken like this.

It's soo fragrant and crispy, and the meat so tender and juicy..

Stand aside, KFC!

Salted egg in pork.
A traditional favourite, i guess.

And so we had a lunch full of traditional flavours.

This traditional fare costs about 50bucks .

Like i said, the amount of supporters justify their steep prices!

Will this be the last time we eat here before they move to Toa Payoh?

Certainly not!

We've made a pact to come back soon.

And maybe have a drink at Cosy Bay after lunch!

And maybe one more time with my parents, for supper.

And to walk around the place after eating.

While dad smokes,

while mum points out the schools of fishes in the waters to me,

while Feng enjoys the breeze,

and me peering out at the night sky,

thinking when we would come back here again.

I love hearing this song at night!

By Johnny Gill. A real luving and yummy song...
