A simple blog that pens down my thoughts and happenings, without fanciful photos or sophisticated wordings.

After work on Monday, Feng brought me to this new Hong Kong cafe for dinner at Marina Square shopping centre. It's located at the first storey of the mall, and the cafe looks quite bright from outside with their orange lights. The surrondings and its menu are decorated with snapshots of the streets of Hong Kong, and their red round cushion sofa chairs are comfortable to sit on too. After flipping through the blue menu, we ordered the following:
  • Cheese Baked Rice with Chicken Chop
  • Fried Noodles With Egg and Luncheon Meat
  • Special Shrimp Har Gow
  • Milk and Peanut Butter Thick Toast
  • Ice Hong Kong Milk Tea

The baked rice is served on a hot, white procelain casserole. It has quite a generous serving of cheese, with a big piece of chicken. The rice has a tinge of buttery flavour to it as well. I would say that they complement each other rather perfectly.

The noodles are not really fried. It is actually semi dry noodles, with a special black sauce with it. The luncheon meat is fried till hot and crispy, and the egg is semi cooked, so that you can mix the egg yolk with the noodles. This is highly recommended, if u love to eat instant noodles.

As for the special shrimp har gow, they taste fresh and very juicy. They are far from those har gows that are frozen-packed. It looks as if they are made from fresh prawn fillings, just before they are steamed.

The thick toast is the best of all the food that we have ordered. It has a very generous topping of sweet, sticky condense milk with thick peanut butter. On top of this, some milo powder are dribbled on the toast as well. These toppings sort of melt into the hot, crispy toast as we eat it! This chinese dessert is highly recommended. Its even yummier than the toasts served in the more popular Hong Kong cafe that i've tried in East Coast Road, and the pink cafe opposite Great World City.

The ice milk tea is presented in an old-fashioned silver tin mug, with a small handle. The tea is very rich and the sweetness is just the way I like it. It remains sweet even after the majority of the ice has melted. However, I would not recommend it to people who does not favour sweet stuffs.

Overall, the experience is pleasant. The service crews are very polite, and hurried to open the door for us as we were leaving. They spoke to us in cantonese. Good thing Feng can speak the language. However, the serving of the food is not prompt. Or rather, its slow. They mixed up our food as well, serving us food that we did not order. Thus, only go there during "off-peak" hours! The price is very reasonable, i think. It only totals up to $28.30. Do note that they charge 40 cents for a small glass of ice water. ( what a turn off ) Another small complaint is that the air con is blasting cold, for me. Not bad, I would say. I had an enjoyable dinner. Thus, do give this cafe a shot, at #01-04/05.

Perharps, a rich tai tai for a day. I'm a super shopoholic. I find it hard not to spend 90% of my salary on food and almost everything I lay my eyes on..

I think I'm acursed. Work so hard for more than a month, and only get to enjoy for a day.

Good thing I'm also an instantnoodleholic.
